An application has been submitted to Solihull MBC for a Pizza Hut to the rear of KFC. It is said that the establishment will deal mainly with phone orders with delivery by moped. Various objections raised by residents when previously muted are said to have been addressed in the new planning application. Full details of the application and an internet based comments form for residents to air their views - for or against or just general comments can be found HERE

I do find it difficult to say I could approve this planning application, as I live some distance away from the KFC outlet.

What I find disconcerting about the furor this issue has raised, is that the Morrissons continued disregard of the traffic congestion they cause, from the fuel filling outlet, has gone without comment.

The increase in traffic from the Pizza Hut developement, is insignificant to the continued Morrissons company policy, of having only one of the two cash tills manned.

I do know that there is a campaign being run by Chris Birch to raise awareness of the traffic issues in this whole vacinity and to get improvements made. It is my understanding that this is currently being reviewed by Solihull MBC and hopefully as a result improvements made. Part of the documentation with this planning application is an agreement between the applicant and Solihull MBC to a section 106 agreement whewreby the applicant contributes £13000 to the Chester Road scheme. It is a little more difficult to impose things where planning permission is already in place, but at a public meeting last year, Solihull MBC did agree to write or talk to Morrsons informally about this issue.

This application was refused by Solihull MBC, but the applicant has appealed to the Secretary of State for the Environment.

The appeal is to be dealt with by the Secretary of State on the written representation basis and a site visit by an Inspector who may be accompanied by the apellant and a Council Officer if necessary.

Documents, plans etc relating to the appeal may be viewed at Solihull Connect located within Solihull Library.

Any queries should be directed to Jessica NAsh 0121 704 6354 who is the Planning Officer dealing with the case.

This will actually get through as it has gone to the secretary of state and anything outside of Touchwood seems to get the nod---mind you I want to know why traffic from Morrisons has not been restricted from trying to get onto teh chester road as it causes problems

The problem with Morrisons is its own success.

The congestion that the fuel pump outlet create, is because the "management" will only put ONE person on the till, to handle fuel sales, and consumer items.

It gets no better at Christmas either!!!

Morrisons does not own the Chester Road---it should be better planned. As for planning notices SMBC tape an A4 pink slip to a tree------how is that raising an awareness other than complying with their notification requirements

Oh for the old days before comulsory purchase and the 4bed houses that use to be where KFC and aldi are now
