These forums have been a bit quiet for some time.

I thought I'd let you know that a planning application is expected in the next few weeks for the development of the old County Garages site located within Bradford Road/Old Croft Lane/The Green.

The development is thought to consist of 12/14 semi detached houses.

I for one won't be sorry to see the old buildings gone! The whole site is an eyesore.

I have been advised than a planning application for the construction of 12 homes on the site of the disused County Garages site has been received by Solihull MBC. I understand the site will include almost everything contained within the triangle bordered by Bradford Road, Old Croft Lane & the access road between The Green and the existing buildings.

The plans will be discussed at the Parish Council meeting on 13th April, provided the plans have been sent to the Parish Council by then. If not, then at the next Parish meeting.

The plans, as yet, do not appear on the Solihull MBC Planning website.

i wont be sorry either - along with the clock garage at one end and the old 452 being empty... it is making CB look a real mess and giving the vandals a field day....I am just grateful its not a take away.  As long as they are decent homes.

The plans for the development of the old County Garages site are now available to view on the Solihull MBC website. The planning application number is 2011/521.

The plans are for twelve four bedroom detached homes, seven facing Bradford Road, four facing The Green & one facing Old Croft Lane. Surprisingly the two empty properties currently attached to the disused factory will remain.

This URL should take you to the list of documents in Solihull's website:-

re the planning application for 12 properties alongside the green.. i have had brief look at the plans and note that there has been a recommendation to fell some trees ( which i believe are checked by the council regularly and they havent felt need to fell them before......) -  and there is mention of a phone mast or aerial - where will this be located?     I hope Castle Bromwich Council will think of the residents when they make a decision to agree  to  any move to chop down our beautiful horse chestnut trees... or erect an unsightly mast in the area of the village green,,, which i believe is owned by the residents....I would recommend everyone  take a look at the planning application..

I would urge anyone who has a view to send their comments to the Planning Department at Solihull Council as well as making them known to Castle Bromwich Parish Council as ultimately it is with the Planning Committees at Solihull Council with advice from the Planners that I believe that decisions are made. Castle Bromwich Parish Council make their view known with comments the same as residents but are not able to make decisions on planning matters.

Sorry folks but you're going to have to wait if you want to see the plans online. I tried to show them to my daughter this morning and they have been removed. The planning office told that the application was invalid as the incorrect forms were used. Watch this space.

We received official notification from the council today but have been told to ignore it and wait for another after the application has been re-submitted. I hope the developer doesn't think stuff it and walk away.

Docbrown, I read the report about the trees yesterday when the plans were still available. I read it as only  the Maple tree that is on the Bradford Road in front of the waste ground at the corner of Old Croft Lane is to be felled. All the other trees along the edge of The Green will be pruned but not removed.

The phone mast you refer to has been on the corner of Bradford Road & Old Croft Lane for a few years now. There are no plans for another as far as I know.

The house to be built on the corner of Old Croft Lane & Bradford Road will, in my opinion, be the least desirable with a mobile phone mast on the corner and a view of the garage out of their front window.

Where is the vandals field day being held? I have just sprayed the word "SOLID BAD BOYS" on the fence at the back of County Garages I am very good at doing the discus. Is it going to be held in the park?

Perhaps not. But if you're swimming in the part of the ocean that's dirty then it does concern you.

Pleased to say the Parish Council approved the plans last night with a proviso that The Green is separated from the development with a fence for safety reasons. Hopefully the Borough council will approve the plans too.

Also on the agenda was a proposal to introduce a no parking zone in Water Orton Road in front of Arden Hall.

I have learned that  plans have been submitted for No 3 & 4 The Green. These are the two empty semis which were converted into offices for the factory next door.

Nothing in the Solihull MBC Planning website yet.

I don't how much truth there is in this but,

My daughter had her car washed on Sunday at the County Garage car wash. One of the operators told her that they were closing down in three weeks time. Presumably they will re-open at the disused petrol station a few yards along the Bradford Road where they have planning permission for another car wash.

When I walked past the disused petrol station yesterday some of the boarding had been removed from the end by Old Croft Lane and there was some work being undertaken, so would seem likely.
