Solihull Council is planning its future waster & recycling services and needs your help. They want to know your views on what residents and council can do together to reduce , reuse and recycle so there is very little rubbish. They would like residents to compete their online survey https://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=AvsLrDDx8DO0M85ebCQs%2fKlKzQs1L3VlU46W%2b1D8vso%3d&" target="_blank">HERE https://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=AvsLrDDx8DO0M85ebCQs%2fKlKzQs1L3VlU46W%2b1D8vso%3d&

Carbon footprint is the buzz word theses days, when we discuss re-cycling. For all the good intentions of the Borough Council, with its "in depth" questionairs, why am I having to go 8 mile to Bickenhill, and 8 mile home, to do my civic duty?

Have you tried the local tip recently Colin? The last I heard, there was an agreement between Solihull MBC and Birmingham City Council to a 6 month trial monitoring usage of the tip by Solihull Residents. I've not got any up to date information on whether this is in place, but shortly after hearing about the agreement I used the tip without being asked any questions as to where I live, although the usage sign for Birmingham Residents only was still in place.

I get SO irate, when I read comments from intelligent people, laced with " I think", or well meant infromation that is "loose". It either is or it isnt. I am not going to Tamar Drive to be confronted by a person who is not up to date with the facts. I can see it now in the local paper........."OAP has a punch up over recycling" And who is to blame? YOU !!!! for giving mis leading information, but with the best of intentions. Get the" Birmingham Only" sign down, then I will have confidence. If the situation is as you describe, why is the sign up ?

Calm down, Colin. The site owner was reporting factually on SMBC cllr Ted Richards report to the CBPC regarding an agreed arrangement between the SMBC & Birmingham Council over the usage of the Tamar drive site. Everyone I know has used it since then without query or incident. As to why the sign is still up I have no idea. Perhaps you should query this with the Birmingham City Council or one of their councillors? The site owner is trying to help & inform the community with honestly & integrity where ever & when ever it is requested. Gratitude rather than censure would be more appropiate.

Imagine an English village. Where any relevant news, that concerns the population, is posted by the Parish Council, onto a prominent notice board, outside its village hall. Here, in this Parish of Castle Bromwich, we have Arden Hall. Arden Hall, is the "village" focal point. Notices are displayed in the front window. ( Please bring a box to stand on) Relevant news, such as the re negotiated use of Tamar Drive re cycling, should be posted there. Whether the population read it, is another matter. The point being that the Parish Council can be seen to be doing its public duty. But there is no notice. The upshot of that is now we have one person, seeking to be seen as a person who wants to be noticed for doing, what the Parish Council should be doing. Word of mouth, and postings on this site, are not good enough. While I deem it necessary that all information that affects me and others, should be made public, word of mouth, and corner shop chat, is hardly 21st century state of the art communication. Once again, our expensive Parish Council are seen as being a white elephant. One large notice, in the window of the village hall, that WE own. Cant be even in the thinking of our "community " servants minds. Parish Council? I almost, but not quiet, give up.

i have never stopped using the Tameside Drive tip since Solihull residents were supposedly banned. Neither have I ever been asked for my postcode on arrival. I last used it last Thursday.

The above link for the waste management survey didn't work for me. This is the web page:- https://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=AvsLrDDx8DO0M85ebCQs/KlKzQs1L3VlU46W%2b1D8vso%3d& Pity the survey doesn't include a section for comments. I am fed up with Solihull MBC telling residents they must recycle more. I would be pleased to recycle more. Yesterday I drove along Bradford Road after the black bins were emptied to see piles of cardboard left on the roadside because the council have now stopped collecting anything not inside the black bin. No doubt when they did collect cardboard that was put out it went straight to the incinerator for burning. If I can take cardboard to the Arden Hall recycling centre why can't Solihull arrange for home collection? My daughter lives in Nuneaton. Their council collects everything Solihull doesn't. i.e. Cardboard, all types of plastic including yoghurt pots, margarine tubs, food trays, Tetra packs etc. Solihull MBC play at recycling.

I take issue with the reply from "The Boss" He/She suggest that I confront a Birmingham City Councillor. on the subject of the Birmingham Residents Only , notice being taken down, at Tamar Drive re-cycling plant. May I remind "The Boss", it is I who would have YOU as MY representative to deal with civic matters. It is YOU who has all the relevant connections. You want me to do what YOU were elected to do!!! ANd please dont get making patronising remarks to those who commit comments to this site. It lowers the tone and your own prestige.

Mine all goes straight in the bin, screw arsing about with the deeply flawed recycling systems they need to develop efficient mechanical separating systems. Where do they think those of us that live in small houses with no gardens have room to store two wheelie bins, a green box, a black box and a white bag, one bin is too many? No doubt its all my own fault for not working hard enough to earn enough money to buy the big mansion.

Colin I would never patronise anyone, intentionally. If I have done so then I apologise. The reason I suggested that you contact a Birmingham city councillor or Council Officer is that it is their recycling & rubbish centre. However, what I should have recommended was that you contact Cllr Ted Richards who is an SMBC councillor who represents Castle Bromwich residents interests at this level.Hence his report to the Parish council on this subject as a common curtesy due to the many questions/concerns that had been directed to our Parish council via our residents In the world of civic responsibilities & etiquette Parish/Town councils are the first tier of government. City/Borough/County councils are the second tier of government. This issue is under the second tier of government & Parish & Town councils have no bearing or influence or right of input on this issue. Our Parish council has to address its residents concerns via our borough councillors who are second tier government members which it has been doing. An individual member of the public such as yourself can cut across these bounderies with impunity. Unfortunatly, councillors have to follow proceedure. I hope this helps allieviate your concerns with my reply to you, & please keep speaking up & out on behalf of our community. I wish others were as interested in their community.
