After ten years of a Tory led Council, Solihull MBC is now in the hands of a Labour/Liberal Democrat coalition.

Do you think this change will be a benefit for Castle Bromwich residents? What would you like to see the new administration change/introduce, if anything?

My own view is that Castle Bromwich, in the north of the borough, gets the butt end of council services compared to those of the South Solihull. With the new cabinet comprising six members from the south and just two from the north I don't see much hope of an improvement.

Whoops, made a mistake.

Make that seven cabinet members from the south of the borough, five of whom represent Shirley wards, and two from the north.

At least Shirley should be well looked after.

Change begins at home.

If you desire alterations to anything in Castle Bromwich, you must voice your views in the right area.

That area is , as I keep saying, the Castle Bromwich Parish Council.

Your paying for something you dont make use of. Give your representative councillor a chance to make his/her mark.

If you dont use it, you wont lose it, but the councillors will think all is content in our Parish. ( and its not , is it?)

I can't see the change benefitting Castle Bromwich to any great extent because it is Parished and as Colin quite rightly points out, many of the facilities in Castle Bromwich are the responsiblity of the Parish Council. Additionally, money spent in the North is focused on the regeneration areas of Chelmsley, Fordbridge, Kingshurst and Smiths Wood.

I would like to see more emphasis on providing facilities for young people which are more loosely structured, but still provided somewhere for them to be off the streets. Many young people I know would like somewhere to just sit and talk, either in doors or outside with some shelter.

In the longer term, I'd also like to see more investment in our shopping areas, encouraging new more diverse businesses,  making them cleaner and improving the road system and parking around them.

I'd also like some thought given to utilising green spaces for community activities. Other areas of Solihull have their free Music in the Park Events. The Castle Bromwich Community Project which is currently being registered as a Charity would welcome help from the Castle Bromwich Parish Council, the new Solihull Council in establishing something similar in Castle Bromwich.
