Friday was the start of the Castle Bromwich Bulb Planting Festival. The event organised by Castle Bromwich Youth & Community Partnership and Solihull MBC seeks to involve community groups in making Castle Bromwich a brighter place next spring.

Children from Castle Bromwich Junior School and St Mary & St Margaret's School kicked the Festival off by planting bulbs around the schools, on Hurst Lane North and on the island in Whateley Crescent.

Today, volunteers from Castle Bromwich Cricket Club spent the morning planting bulbs in the playing fields at Arden Hall and in the next week user groups of Arden Hall will be planting bulbs at the front of Arden Hall and the 5th Castle Bromwich Brownies in the Garden of Memory. There are also plans to plant at the War Memorial and St Clements Church.

The bulbs have been supplied by Solihull Council and community groups and residents have made suggestions as to where they should be planted. There are plans to make this annual event so Castle Bromwich should look very attractive in the spring.

Further photos can be seen HERE. These photos will be added to over the coming days as more planting takes place.
