A planning application was submitted to SMBC on 7th of July, for a car wash, and portacabin on the Chester Arms car park.

The conclusion date is 03/09/2009.

The planning application number is 2009/934.

If anyone has any objections, this is the information you will require.

Alternativly. residents could attend the next meeting of the Castle Bromwich Parish Council, on the last Wednesday of the month, and let the custodians of our community have a chance to voice your opinions.

Please remember, every Band D community tax payer, give £53.64 per year to support this body.

Thats YOUR money, and YOUR community, that needs safeguarding.

Well, from the lack of correspondence, and the "no shows" at the Castle Bromwich Parish Council meeting, one can safely assume that all is well on this issue.

If you want a reply to this I suggest you make it more common knowledge. I only found this website by chance.

What car wash on the Chester Arms many were under the impression it was to have flats built on it..!!!

I object to parents blocking roads at the school with their parking this will add to the traffic problem but no one in the council cares at all

If the residents do not voice their opinions either through the post, to the Castle Bromwich Parish Council, or by attending "open to the public" council meetings, how do you expect the  representavies to know ?

One can even contact their local councillor through E-Mail.

When planning permission is granted for ANY project, there is a time for people to object. After that, what happens next, is signed sealed and delivered.

The Parish Council are pretty useless. If they are the custodians then they would act as true Parish Council--when thy went for an ASBO and the  Police objected they should have quoted under the terms of council they could gain extra funding and the at the Police have always had the powers od dispersal.  If I see the Parish actually do anything that helps I would be really impressed

An enforcement notice was issued by Solihull MBC. If the Car Wash didn't appeal the enforcement notice then they should have closed down by 31st January 2010. See:-

There is also a report from the Planning Sub-committee which outlines the legal case for the enforcement notice and the background which can be read HERE

The planning application for the car wash at the Chester Arms was refused by Solihull Planning Dept on 19th March.

I walked passed the site this morning and the car wash is now closed.

I went to the car wash behind the Chester Arms before Christmas and they did a first class job boith inside and out. There was no sign of any mess and they seemed to be busy. They had a lot of parking spaces there so cars did not need to block the road and there was no noise of any note from the site, I cannot see what the problem with this place was/is. But then it was run by Johnny Foreigner and we all know how large number of Castle Brom folk feel about that. Castle Bromwich is a very racist area.

If you want to see a car wash site that is a "right mess" visit the one on Bradford Road at the old County Garages site.

Do local residents know that there is also planning permission for yet another car wash at the disused County Garages petrol station should the operators wish to open one?

Personally I think the one at the Chester Arms was in the best location. At least is was mainly hidden behind the pub and trees.
