Theft Suspect Caught on Cash-point Camera

A cash-point camera catches the moment a suspected thief uses a stolen debit cardto withdraw £250 from a Solihull bank. Thecard was in a handbag swiped from the feet of a diner in the Touchwood centreon Saturday June 12 – and just minutes later was used outside Coventry BuildingSociety on Poplar Road. It was used again shortly after to withdraw £50 from the nearby Lloydshole-in-the-wall, but another attempt to take £200 from the same machine failedwhen the card was declined.
Investigating officer PC Chris Scott, said: “The victim hadn’t left the bag unattended andshe hasn’t reported being distracted by an accomplice; it was somehow takenfrom beneath the table without her noticing. Unfortunately she’d written her PIN number in a diary that was also in the handbag so shem ade it easy for the thief. PIN numbers should never be written on bank cardsor on scraps of paper carried in purses, wallets or handbags.”
The woman police want to speak to is white and believed to be in her mid- tolate-40s. At the time she had short, multi-tone or highlighted hair scraped to the side, and was wearing a light coloured blouse and cardigan.
